The Moon, the Snake, and the Rose

The Moon, the Snake and the Rose, Acrylic, Golden Glass Bead Gel, graphite, Posca Pen on wood panel.
30 x 30" by Lea K. Tawd. SOLD

As I painted this piece, it felt like a long-lost fable that was flowing from me and onto the wood substrate.  Some deep symbolism that I could remember with the edges of my being but not in my full consciousness, filled with whispers of healing and transformation.

Painting in the round is a bit of a challenge, but one that I welcome.  I ordered more large round substrates and in the meantime I’ll be working on some smaller rounds and a couple of commissions.  But I can’t wait to continue this series in the round.  I even have a name for a show rolling around my head.

Normally I would offer a link for purchase, but during an event that I held in my backyard a guest asked to look in my studio.  I showed her around the studio, including this piece, which was finished but still on the easel at the time.  A couple of weeks later she contacted me.  "I can't get that painting out of my head.  I think I'm going to have to buy it," she said.

I could not argue with that!  Maybe I'll offer prints some day.  For now, I hope you enjoy here on my humble blog.

Until next time,

Lea
